School Resource Packs and Story Book
Client: The Folly & Museum of North Craven Life
The Folly and the Museum of North Craven Life is a beautiful seventeenth-century Grade I listed building, located in the market town of Settle, North Yorkshire. To help improve their educational / school offering the Folly commissioned Inchpunch Design to create a series of resource packs that linked museum objects and stories with the national curriculum.
Working closely with the museum and Amy Baggaley - Heritage Learning Consultant, we produced a total of ten individually themed resource Guidance Notes for classroom and home learning. Each document covers a number of GCSE subjects including English, History, Maths, Art & Design, Science and Design & Technology. Each resource is packed full of historical information, discussion points, learning activities, problem solving tasks and creative art projects.
Although the objects and stories are linked to Settle and North Craven, the resources can be used to fit with broader classroom teaching about life in the past and inspiration for creative activities - with national curriculum links and learning objectives provided.
All the resource packs and supporting material can be downloaded from the museum website.

Activity School Trail
As part of the School Resource Pack we also created an activity based School Trail. Students are tasked with the creation of a new Museum Guidebook which includes designing a new museum logo, exploring the history of the museum, deciding on which objects to display and where to exhibit them.
To ensure they were download and printer friendly, we used a limited colour palette and avoided large areas of ink coverage.

Molly at The Folly Story Book
As a side project, the museum wanted to produce a bespoke children’s story book to sell in their gift shop. Written by Amy Baggaley and Heather Lane, the story follows Molly the Mouse and her adventures at The Folly. To bring this charming tale to life we enlisted the illustration skills of celebrated artist Nick Ellwood. Throughout the book Molly interacts with various museum objects and each page has an interesting historical fact linked to the featured artefact.
