This exciting exhibition blends contemporary and traditional visual styles to explore the history of jousting at the Royal Armouries, from the origins of the joust, to the entertaining sport it has become today. The display includes personal accounts of the men and women that compete in modern jousting, along with examples of older and newer equipment.
The exhibition’s striking chequered black and yellow graphics were inspired by the Royal Armouries’ own jousting team colours. To complement the armour items on display, the main interpretation panels were produced on brushed aluminium sheets and mounted to the wall via polished chrome fittings. Image only panels were reverse printed to acrylic panels for a contrasting high gloss finish.
Beyond the main exhibition area we created a permanent gallery displaying a range of jouster and other team member’s photographs before, during and after key jousting events. These were reverse printed to huge (A0) acrylic panels and mounted with polished chrome fittings.
We designed all aspects of the exhibition display including the logo, wall graphics, interpretation panels, image panels and object labels.
