Edinburgh Hockey Club Logo & Branding
Client: Edinburgh Hockey Club
When your team represents Scotland's capital city, it naturally draws a lot of public attention. Edinburgh Hockey Club decided the time had come to give their identity a bit of a makeover to better reflect its success, heritage and message.
Inchpunch worked in collaboration with Edinburgh Hockey Club to refresh its identity, prompted by the teams recent sporting success. Right from the start it was made clear that the new logo should be a development of the original and not a complete redesign. Therefore, we retained the iconic Edinburgh Castle as the main focal point of the new logo but simplified the illustration to give it a sleek modern look. To link with the city's historical and cultural heritage, the Edinburgh Castle graphic sits within a crest shaped shield and tournament style ribbon banner.
The stylish stripped back visual style makes the identity much cleaner and more confident. The block colour introduces the team colours and adds visual impact. It is also easier to reproduce on team kits, merchandise, promotional material and all forms of marketing communications. The contemporary bold font ties the graphic elements together.
The dynamic new logo delivers a fresh, contemporary look that also echoes the traditional values of its predecessor. It represents a new chapter in the club's history and will inspire the next generation of sportsmen, sportswomen and fans alike.
